Bachelor of Design (B. Des)

Design as a field of study evolved over a period transforming knowledge from various disciplines (like art, craft, architecture, engineering, sociology, philosophy, psychology etc.) into a field of study focused on user-centric innovation. In future, the department envisages playing a crucial role in elucidating many complex and multifaceted problems of the society, environment, and economy.

Department of Design (DOD) is established with a mission to nurturing young creative minds into outstanding design leaders, passionate for creating a difference in society.

• Program would prepare a knowledge based professional leading towards a professional field.

• The program offers an ecosystem based learning environment with the help of interdisciplinary fields of studies.

• The program focuses on the synthesis of art (without losing its essence) and Design contextualizing it for the 21st Century.

The students will have the liberty of charting 25% (credit wise) of the program content through selection of electives. This gives the students flexibility of pursuing their desired specializations/areas of interest.

Art– Broadly in 2D & 3D fields (such as- techniques in painting, techniques in sculpture, Printmaking, digital art, installation, etc. with experiential creative activities through various media.
Art– Theoretical and intellectual foundation in Art and Aesthetics
Design– Broadly in Product, Visual, Multimedia, Human-computer Interaction.

B.Pharm: The duration of the course shall be four academic years (annual/semester) full time with each academic year spread over a period of not less than two hundred working days for annual pattern and hundred working days for each semester.

Eligibility criteria of the course

The minimum educational qualification for admission to B. Des program is +2 or equivalent in any discipline. The students with Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design (UCEED) scores, have to apply with their UCEED score cards. For the students without UCEED, have to prove their suitability through AU- Design Aptitude Test (AUDAT) to be held at AU Campus. Based on the UCEED/AUDAT scores, the students will be shortlisted for interview at AU campus. Based on their UCEED/AUDAT score and performance in interview, a merit list will be prepared, and the top 30 students will be invited for admission into the program. If anyone from the top declines the offer, then the next student on the waitlist will be offered admission.
